FAQs
What areas does Kerb Appeal operate in?
We operate in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, Durham and Northumberland.
Do you do all window frames, doors and frames?
We only colour change UPVC frames and doors. We do not work with any other frames or doors and we don’t ‘paint’ or vanish wooden frames and doors.
What equipment do you use?
We use the best commercial professional spraying equipment on the market that allows us to spray density and application. This is key to building the colour in layers, adding depth of colour and depth of protection. Each layer colours and protects.
Will the finish peel or flake?
No. We use a professional coating system designed for outdoor plastics and durability. We also build the colour in 3 layers (most companies use only 2 layers) and we sand and cure between each layer (again, most companies do not sand between layers).
Is the Colour Change Makeover a messy process?
No. We always prepare the glass by covering it and we mask a wide area around windows and doors to protect from over spray. We advise you move planters and furniture, so we can get access and to protect from any overspray - particularly if there is a breeze. When we remove the protection we can easily remove and spots that may have got on the glass.
Do I need to be home when you do the work? Do you need access to anything?
We will need all windows and doors that can be opened to be left open, so we can colour a little of the inside edge of the frames. You don’t need to be home if you are happy heave your windows and doors open for us.
How long does it take to Colour Change all my windows and doors?
It depends on how many windows and doors you have. It also depends a little on the weather temperature too. An average 3 bed semi with 8 windows and 2 doors would take around 3 days to complete. This is a little longer than most companies, as we do the extra third coat.
What colour products do you use?
We use Zinsser professional colour, specifically for UPVC.
What colours do you have?
We use Zinsser colours. There are lots to choose from. The most popular are anthracite grey, black and light grey. We will bring the colour brochure with us when we come to measure up for your quote.
How quickly are windows and doors dry and ready to use?
The final colour layer is dry to touch, weather resistant and doors and windows useable within a matter of hours - we ask that you are really careful for the next day or two to allow it to dry completely. The actual full curing process continues over the next month or so.
Will it damage seals or glass?
No. We protect and cover the glass and we mask a wide area around your windows and doors to protect surrounding areas.
Is there any on-going maintenance required?
No, no maintenance. If anything happens when we are done and your frames or doors get damaged or dented, we can always return and do a ‘Touch Up’; things happen.
How much does an average Windows & Doors Colour Change Makeover cost?
It depends on the size and scale of the job, the colour you choose (they are not all priced the same) and the type of access equipment we might need. As a rough guide, an average 3 bed semi would be £2,500 - £3,500; significantly cheaper than a full window and door replacement.
