You might be asking, “Is pressure washing my drive safe?” or “Does pressure washing mono-block blast out all the sand?” At Kerb Appeal we safely and carefully clean all driveway and path surfaces, with no damage to the surface. And we always re-sand. This is a step often missed by jet washing companies. We always come back and re-sand. This does not stop re-growth but it does lengthen the time it takes to grow back and it keeps the blocks stable and in place.
You’re probably thinking, “How do I prevent weeds from growing back on my driveway?” At Kerb Appeal we recommend our bio-wash Green Clear after cleaning and sanding. This is a long lasting treatment that slows down the growth of weeds, lichen and algae.
You might be thinking, “Should I seal my driveway?” This is an optional extra final step. We do recommend as it add even longer protection from re-growth - lengthening time between cleans. It also prolongs the life of the surface.

We operate in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, Durham and Northumberland.
What type of driveway and paths do Kerb Appeal makeover?
We can refresh and transform most driveway and path surfaces; mono-block, resin, patterned concrete, concrete slabs and paving slabs. We also work with wooden decking (depending on the condition) and PVC decking. The process for each is slightly different.
What is the full Driveway & Path Makeover process?
In the section just above we outline the whole process. We come and talk to you about what we’d recommend and what’s best for your driveway surface.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the space we are transforming. For an average 2 car drive it takes around 4 hours including clean up. We allow it to dry, so return to re-sand if required and treat with the Bio-wash and return again to apply the final protective seal.
Do I need to be home when you do the work? Do you need access to anything?
We only need access to an outside tap. Our equipment is battery powered or powered by a generator. You do not need to be home when we do the work, so long as we can easily access the areas that we need to work on.
Is the Driveway Makeover a messy process?
Well, we are jet washing your driveway so yes there will be some mess. Good news though, we clean it all up before we leave, and we check your neighbours side too as sometimes there are some over-splashes. We ask that you remove plant pots, planters, furniture or anything else that can get in the way or might get damaged. We also ask that cars are removed from the drive and out of the way of splashes. We’ll ask your neighbours to do the same too if your driveways are close or joined.
Is jet washing my driveway safe?
Yes. At Kerb Appeal we use professional equipment that can adjust pressure and nozzle application to suit every type of surface.
Do you tackle oil stains, moss, lichen and weeds.
Yes, we handle them all.
Will weeds come back?
Weeds will always find a way to grow. So we stay ahead of the game by always re-sanding mono-block and recommending our Green Clear bio-wash to keep weeds and growth at bay. We recommend you book in for this a couple of times a year after a makeover - it keeps it looking like new. Sealing offers even longer protection.
What products do you use?
We use Kerb Appeal Clear Green. This is a very effective microbiological biocide that quickly breaks down and kills organic growth such as moss, lichen and mould, commonly found on driveway surfaces and roofs. It also acts as a lasting prevention of mould regrowth.
We use ProPerla Sealing & Protecting products, they are the best in the market.
Are the products safe for pets and children?
The Kerb Appeal Clear Green would not be considered safe to touch whilst still wet, like most weed and organic growth removal products. It does not contain bleach or acid. When dry it is completely safe, even if it rains.
If we are using this product on your drive or path we will spray this product closely and carefully. We ask that you move hanging baskets and plants that could be affected by any small amount of overspray through the breeze. Once dry, it dries very quickly, it’s completely safe for pets to walk on, even if it rains.
Is there any on-going maintenance required?
external surfaces are always prone to weeds and growth, some areas are worse than others. After a full makeover we recommend that you book in for a quick ‘Bio-wash n Go’ just before spring and in summer to stay on top of growth. This is a biocide treatment (not a clean) routine that will stop unsightly weeds and moss. This takes around 45 minutes.
How much does an average Driveway Makeover cost?
It depends on the size and scale of the job and what you want to achieve and what additional extras you’d like to include.
